Hagley Museum And Site Improvements
Wilmington, DE
The Hagley Museum is a project involved with site design improvements with specific emphasis on parking accommodations, tour bus drop-off, storm-water management, site security, and visitor accessibility. Emphasis was place on weaving modern museum necessities into the historic fabric of the site. A comprehensive entrance sequence, a bridge that spans across the nearby canal that serves as an inconspicuous accessible ramp entrance, and both historical and special exhibits galleries within the early 19th-century historic mill building were designed. A business office and millwright's shop was recreated to show not only demonstrations of mechanical principles, but insight into business administration practices of 19th-century powder manufacturing.
