biedenharn museum and site plan

The growth of the organization’s many program offerings fostered the need for expansion beyond the present site along the Onachita River of its home museum and botanical gardens. The study of the site addressed the feasibility of an expansion incorporating a new building, exhibits, and gardens. In the process, internal goals, culture and thinking were considered along with a look at practical resources both present and reasonably expected. This was done in conjunction with shaping forces in the external environment to provide answers to the museum’s questions in the most direct and efficient manner. The planning process resulted in alternative expansion scenarios for consideration by the museum before final recommendations were delivered for a new building with gift shop, educational spaces, and offices.
